OPEN Engineering began in early 2018 when our founder noticed a gap in the market for a structural consultancy that puts pragmatism and client service at the head of its core values. Too often we heard of engineers failing to respond to customers for weeks, over-designing or simply producing schemes which could not be constructed. It was therefore time to develop a business which could address those matters.

We pride ourselves on the holistic view taken on our projects. Design is not just about the size of a steel beam, it is about how that beam can be installed, how it interacts with the structure it supports, how much it costs, whether there are other alternatives to having a beam. 
We offer our clients a dedicated, diligent and efficient design service and add real value to each project. We like to speak to people, to discuss, to develop and collaborate, not ignore, and we get things done on time. We do not over promise and under deliver. 

We are based in Sevenoaks, Kent, so have great links to our projects in central London and across the south east of England. Our main market is residential, from multi apartment schemes, refurbishments of existing properties, extensions and new builds from domestic sized to multi-million pound luxury homes. The practice is headed by Founding Director Rob Manning, a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 18 years’ experience in the industry. He has worked on numerous projects, most notably renovations and extensions to Listed properties in the heart of Central London, award-winning super-prime residential new builds in leafy Surrey and within the Green Belt across the south.
